Hallelujah Floating Mountain Scape String Garden

We are having fun making the mystical floating mountains in a string garden window scape in the store. This type of window gardening is derived from the Japanese are of Kokedama except with are using lightweight pots covered in peat moss to take i unique earth form shapes.

Whether sunrise or sunset, your window will look amazing and unique with this form of string gardening. Add a mister for an even more dramatic effect,

For those who love the fairy genre, thy can also be floating fairy mountains by just adding a few fairy accessories… imagine the possibilities.

Watering Care:

Succulent Mountains – Water once every other week
House Plant Mountains – Water every other day, be sure to mist until you see a drip from the drain hole to ensure thorough watering.
Bonsai Mountain Pots –  Water daily, be sure to mist until you see a drip from the drain hole to ensure thorough watering.

Water for most of the window gardens is as simple as misting or using a turkey baster to limit the flow of water so the landscape doesn’t eroded. You can even place a saucer on a chair to catch the water for 10 minutes or til dripping stops. You can even take the pot down and hang it lower to dangle in a bucket of water. With so many scape to care for we simply mist and keep on moving.

Moss Terrain Care:
If your mountain has moss keep in mind the moss will adsorb alot of water before letting it seep into the soil beneath for the other plants. For this reason,  (just like with bonsai) rarely should you completely moss over the soil but use rocks to create an easier  watering area. You can always peel back a small section of moss to get an idea how much water it absorbs until it’s hydrated enough to seep. I can’t stress enough for bonsai and house plants to water until you see a drip from the drainage. Personally I mostly like a green mossy look as opposed to dried brown most look thus I replace the moss on occasion until I have the look I like. We sell moss in sheets and it’s easy to remoss the landscape.

Doing aerial bonsai on floating mountains breaks away from tradition but is so rewarding and endless fun.

You can now see our scapes at both locations or shop online here at greenologyorganics.com for Hallelujah Floating Mountain pots. Happy string gardening.
